Traveling for the Herald, in 1871 he led an expedition into the interior of Africa to find Livingstone.
After several months of exploration with Livingstone, he returned to London and published How I Found Livingstone (1872).
On his return, he wrote a book about his experiences: How I Found Livingstone; travels, adventures, and discoveries in Central Africa.

I had not 'found Stanley',as Stanley had found Livingstone in 1871; the circumstances were altogether different.
In 1869, a century before the moon landings, he summoned a reporter, Henry M. Stanley, and ordered him, "Find Livingstone."
This may not match finding Livingstone, but the implications can be greater.
They named me after my uncle, and he was born about the time Stanley found Livingstone.
Stanley is usually remembered as the newsman who found Livingstone in 1871, but his real importance lay in later exploits.
