It now expects oil use in 2005 to grow by 1.6 million barrels a day.

In all, that storm cut oil production by 43.8 million barrels.

It has increased by 800,000 barrels a day, roughly 5 percent, in two years.

Demand, on the other hand, is seen growing by 1.5 million barrels a day.

As a result, oil imports have risen by two million barrels a day.

American oil consumption increased by more than 800,000 barrels a day from 1985 to 1987.

Crude oil stocks also were up by 8.5 million barrels.
