The oldest structure still available in the workshop premises is the Senior Railway Institute which has a foundation stone dated 1882.

Hlushko graduated from the Railway Institute in Kiev in 1899.

The station building was built between 1896 and 1897 according to the style of the time, by the architect Bruno Granholm at the Finnish Railway Institute.
