"A committee view that the risks are unbalanced would not necessarily trigger either a current or a subsequent policy move," the Fed said.
In the past, heavy intervention has worked for a sustained period only if it was combined with policy moves.
This summer, a new study has surfaced that suggests the Fed's policy moves do not necessarily reflect its advantage in forecasting.
Still, the summary of the December meeting said members "observed that the next policy move might be in either direction."
And since most of the Street expects the money numbers to be bad in January, everybody is looking for another policy move.
But sometimes a socialist government seems bent on pre-empting such policy moves.
"We think the Fed's move was technical in nature and not a policy move by any stretch of the imagination."
And once again the Fed's action was considered a technical response to seasonal needs rather than any policy move.
"It would take another twist down in interest rates by the Fed - a policy move - for rates to go down further."
"He will be giving more insight to the recent policy moves."
