Jersey Troopers Charged Two officers involved in a shooting at a traffic stop in New Jersey falsified records to cover up racial profiling, state officials say.

The nine officers who were disciplined last week had falsified records of a court date so that an inmate could be taken to his quarters, where they beat him, department officials have said.

It also stated that the officers involved also falsified reports and tampered with official police recorders so that "misconduct would not be recorded."

He said the officers lied in their applications to obtain search warrants at the targets' homes and then falsified the reports they filed with the department to cover up their thefts.

"Salvadoran military officers," he said, "have withheld evidence, destroyed evidence, falsified evidence and repeatedly perjured themselves in testimony before the judge."

Prosecutors alleged that the officers falsified information and documents after the killing to justify the serving of the warrant.
