In 1944, he joined their faculty as a lecturer in the Department of English and Modern European Languages.

He finished his education at McGill University and joined the civil service in 1879 as a first class clerk in the Department of the Interior.

In 1989, he joined the University of Alberta as a Professor in the Department of Mathematics.
