The first car train stopped here in on 29 May 1961.
An eight car train from this batch was unpainted as an experiment.
The reason for the move is that the platforms could only accommodate two car trains.
However, see note above in regard to the operation of full length, 8 car trains.
Work to extend the platform to take the proposed six car trains has now been completed.
It was the second all room sleeping car train along the west coast.
It is planned to expand the original stations outside of downtown to support four car trains.
Initially, only four car trains were run until 1986.
It was possible to connect four units in order to gain eight car train.
On the following Saturday two car trains were assigned to both destinations.
