Mr. Land turned around from his helm position.

And each stopped at 80 to 90 Republican households during the day, Mr. Land said.

"We had a real assembly line going," Mr. Land said.

"Despite the difficulties, this is a market where we have to move in and expand," Mr. Land said.

"There's a good separation between the public persona and who he really is," Mr. Land says.
