A distinct form has been named in 2005, initially as a distinct species:

It was first named by Duffin in 1998 as a species of Polyacrodus.

They were named provisionally as a new species, Suillus quiescens, in conference proceedings published in 2005.

At first it had been common to name each newly discovered ornithomimid as a species of Ornithomimus.

T. donensis is known only from a cervical vertebra and was thus only tentatively named as a distinct species.

The plant was named officially as a distinct species in 1948.

The type species, O. sanmiguelensis, was originally named as a species of Diadectes in 1965.

It was named as a supposed new species in 1894 before being largely accepted as a hybrid in the early 20th century.

Ironically, two papers have been published naming this Rafflesia as a new species.

This species is closely allied to Lomariopsis lineata but has not yet been named as a species.
