interframe gap

Each frame is separated from the next by an interframe gap.

An additional minimum interframe gap corresponding to 12 bytes is inserted after each frame.

Between successive frames a sequence of (at least) six primitives must be transmitted, sometimes called interframe gap.

For Fibre Channel, there is a sequence of primitives between successive frames, sometimes called interframe gap as well.
