foreshots

The early product, known as foreshots or heads, is no good.

The first is termed foreshots, the second constitutes the potable spirit, and the third is called feints.

The first part of the run (the foreshots) and the last (the feints), both full of impurities, are eliminated.

As noted above, they are returned with the foreshots to the Spirit Still when it is recharged with low wines.

The first liquid to emerge from the spirit condenser as the spirit still is heated is the undesirable foreshots, and these are directed from the spirit safe to the low wines and feints receiver for re-distillation.
