Saffron-scented fish stew, combining scallops, shrimp, mussels and perch, is accurately named and accurately cooked, though the garlic in its broth is as assertive as the saffron.

Appetizers to look for are spinach with fonduta (made with fontina cheese); fennel and lamb's lettuce salad, beef carpaccio with truffle oil and Parmesan cheese; and seafood salad combining clams, mussels, scallops, squid and swordfish with a lemon vinaigrette.

Combine scallops, let sit 10 minutes.

Others might flinch at combining scallops with white soy sauce and dried cherries, but he presses on.

Another dish, called Mediterranean delight, was slightly better, combining shrimp, lobster, mussels, clams, scallops and monkfish in a more vivid version of the same sauce.
