Britains's first Scopoli's Shearwater off Isles of Scilly waters on 2 August.

Being fairly distinct (Heidrich et al. 1998), they are sometimes regarded as separate species, C. d. diomedea then being named Scopoli's Shearwater.

He returned in 1967, building a house and studying the breeding biology of Cory's Shearwaters Calonectris diomedea.

Species include Cory's Shearwater (Calonectris diomedea) and migratory passerines.

The Cory's Shearwater (Calonectris diomedea) is a large shearwater in the seabird family Procellariidae.

The island has two inhabitants, a guard of the Nature Reserve, and a Portuguese biologist studying the bird Cory's Shearwater (Calonectris diomedea), cagarra in Portuguese.

If visited during the Summer or Spring, marine birds such as the Calonectris Shearwaters (Calonectris diomedea borealis) or Common Tern (Sterna hirundo) are common.

Another fact, at least curious, is that the name of the archipelago is also that of a bird that lives in the archipelagos of Madeira and the Azores (Portuguese territories): the shearwater or cagarro ("Calonectris diomedea") but is not found on Brazilian islands.
