An Irish soldier was shot dead by soldiers of the South Lebanon Army last month.

Additional regions controlled by the South Lebanon Army are sometimes included under the term.

It had been a South Lebanon Army and Israeli gun position.

"I've been following a woman who for 10 years was a prisoner of the South Lebanon Army," she said.

Security officials said the South Lebanon Army blew up a house and captured its owner before returning to the zone.

From 1985 through 2000, Israel continued to fund the South Lebanon Army.

Israel pays, trains, supplies and directs the 1,000 or so members of the South Lebanon Army.

The South Lebanon Army said in a statement that its soldiers repelled the attack.

Several thousand members of the South Lebanon Army (and their families) left with the Israelis.

The group said one of its men was killed and another wounded in the firefight with the South Lebanon Army.
