"We don't know who they were trying to hit," Sergeant Clifford said.

None of the guests who left the apartment tried to call the police while the assault took place, Sergeant Clifford said.

The police last night were searching for a single suspect, Sergeant Clifford said.

"Whether he meant to do it or not, we'll probably never know," Sergeant Clifford said.

Sergeant Clifford said charges against him would be determined later.

He put it on after he had left the others, Sergeant Clifford said.

"We have no reason to believe that one person or one group is responsible," Sergeant Clifford said.

"A fellow walked in with a can of gas," Sergeant Clifford said.

"He became a little nervous when he realized something could be up," Sergeant Clifford said.

Sergeant Clifford said that officers would respond if they got a call about someone peddling guns.
