Georgia has been without its Russian gas, and with limited electricity, for five days.

Consequently, Russian gas has been considered as an alternative source for the pipeline.

Seven countries in the 27-nation bloc are almost totally dependent on Russian gas.

"This is enough for buying the necessary amount of Russian gas at market prices."

Russian gas arrives via a pipeline running through Georgia.

"For now we can get by without Russian gas."

Georgia says it will be mostly free of Russian gas by 2008.

At the same time, however, these enterprises cannot exist without Russian gas.

Poland, of course, should set an example to others in this and refuse Russian gas.

For example, the supply of Russian gas to Europe has gone down from 75% in 1990 to 45% today.
