It is located close to the Salt River and between the towns of Quairading and Bruce Rock.

Although he was born in Victoria he was brought up in the West Australian town of Bruce Rock.

Osborn died on 22 July 1937 at Bruce Rock, where he was buried.

The town is located close to the Salt River and along the railway line between Bruce Rock and Quairading.

It is the main town in the Shire of Bruce Rock.

The name was changed to Bruce Rock after the large granite feature located close to the town.
