Bassian thrush

The Bassian thrush lives in shrubland, forests, and rainforests.

One of our party was Joe, a very enthusiastic young man who particularly wanted to see the Bassian Thrush.

In shaded and moist areas there are scrubtits and Bassian thrush.

David told us that our target species for the day were Bassian Thrush, Rose Robin and Grey Butcherbirds so we were all very hopeful.

A few species to look for are Bassian Thrush, White-browed Scrubwren, Eastern Spinebill, White-throated Treecreeper and laughing Kookaburra.

Hopefully the elusive Crescent Honeyeater in Section 100 will be advertising himself and the Bassian Thrush in the Rainforest Gully will still be there.

The russet-tailed thrush (Zoothera heinei) is a species of bird in the family Turdidae, closely related to the more widespread Bassian thrush (Zoothera lunulata).

The Bassian thrush (Zoothera lunulata), commonly known as the olive-tailed thrush, is a medium-sized mostly insectivorous thrush found predominantly in southeastern Australia and Tasmania.

Birds here include white-throated treecreeper, large-billed gerygone, Bassian thrush, topknot pigeon, brown cuckoo-dove, wonga pigeon, king parrot, grey goshawk, Lewin's honeyeater, and nocturnal spotlighting may produce a powerful or sooty owl.

As well as the lyrebirds and Crescent Honeyeaters, look out for the Wonga Pigeon, Pilotbird, Red-browed and White-throated Treecreepers and Bassian Thrush, as well as the more common species like thornbills, scrubwrens and Eastern Yellow Robins.
