In telecommunications, bearer service or data service is a service that allows transmission of information signals between network interfaces.

RRC protocol handles connection establishment, measurements, radio bearer services, security and handover decisions.

It manages and stores UE contexts, e.g. parameters of the IP bearer service, network internal routing information.

The MBMS Bearer Service includes a Multicast- and a Broadcast Mode.
