It has been noted that the Alza lacks the advanced features of the Exora, such as the Body Control Module (BCM) which allows automatic activation of certain car functions.

The third generation also was the first Saturn to make use of a Body Control Module (BCM), and a Powertrain Control Module (PCM) in tandem with each other.

On some cars, such as many Chryslers, there are multiple computers: the PCM, the Transmission Control Unit, and the Body Control Module, for a total of three separate computers as an example.

The Exora also features a Body Control Module (BCM) that allows automatic activation and configuration of various vehicle functions such as door locking/unlocking, interior lamps, headlamps, brake lamps, hazard lights and wipers.

Typical automotive applications include engine, transmission, and EPS control systems; ABS, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), and airbags; key-less entry, air-conditioning, dashboard displays, and BCM (Body Control Module).
