This year dealers are showing many European and British garden antiques with forms and motifs inspired by ancient Rome, the Renaissance and the Baroque and Empire periods.

While no local estates are featured, the accompanying collection of garden antiques includes the carved marble fountainheads from Oheka, the Otto Kahn estate in Huntington.

A corps of returning dealers will display antiques - English, Irish and Continental furniture, rugs and accessories, garden antiques, silver, Chinese export porcelain, formal linens, estate jewelry and other collectibles.

You can still find some of them at garden antique shows or in the showrooms of high-end outdoor accouterment dealers.

Now 10 years old, the show has established itself as the oldest, most exclusive and perhaps most eclectic garden antiques show in America.

John Zan, the owner of Bucks County Antiques in Erwinna, Pa., specializes in folk art and garden antiques, "out-of-the-ordinary expensive things with a large presence or small exciting items," he said.

Two white porcelain birds are permanently perched on the edge of my bath, and from a distance it looks like a garden antique.

"There's something so ghoulish about stealing from someone's grave," said Bunny Williams, the interior designer and an owner of Treillage, a garden antiques store on East 75th Street.

James Huniford rolled his eyes when asked about the safety of the collection of garden antiques at the Bedford estate he shares with his partner, the interior designer Stephen Sills.

The theme on Pier 90, which will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., is Americana, with sales of folk art, Arts & Crafts furniture, quilts, posters and garden antiques.
